^Hey, I heard you've been making some good progress with your titans.
Congrats!
My advice: don't get too attached to your titans.

^Not sure if anyone told you how it works yet... but when you send a titan out into the field they never come back again. I think they're designed to rapidly biodegrade as soon as they go down.

^It's not that surprising. It's obviously infinitely easier to grow a new clone in the lab than to handle the logistics of extracting a titan from the field. The titans are entirely disposable, it's kind of elegant in a way...

>It's probably for the best.=C1-4-2

^I dunno. Working here made me realize how many things we take for granted, and how easily we can be led to believe that some living creatures are so easily expendable. That scares me a little. And yet here I am, doing my job...

^Well, I think there's an argument that it's worse... like pigs are smarter than dogs, but we still turn them into sandwiches? There's some weird emotional detachment happening there - the same one that lets us discard these titans without an extra thought.

^Sorry, I'm not trying to judge. I'm just asking you to think about it. Or don't. I'll be honest, the thought of these titans dying constantly doesn't even phase me any more.

^Do you think you'd still be eating animals if no one ever normalized it for you? I'm skeptical that we'd have such arbitrary detachment from other life that we do. It feels like a trained lack of empathy to me.

~C1-4-1-2
^Yeah, I get it. But would you slit that pigs throat yourself to get it? And pigs are smarter than dogs, but you probably wouldn't eat a dog would you? So where do we get this weird emotional detachment from?

^Yeah, personally I had to give up meat when I started working here. Maybe it was the smell of the titans... or maybe I just have a tough time with the idea that inflicting suffering on 'lower' lifeforms is okay. That's pretty damn cold.

^Sure, it's tragic. But like... someone ate a BLT in the cafeteria for lunch. Is that any less sad?
>That's not the same.=C1-4-1-1
>Nothing sad about that. Sounds tasty.=C1-4-1-2
>That's sad too.=C1-4-1-3

^For sure! But it's hard for me to judge properly now that I'm so engrained in the process. The funny thing is I had to give up eating meat when I started working here. I just couldn't stomach it anymore...

^... so anyway... thanks for chatting. Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my humanity so it helps having conversations like this.
