^Ah hey, nice work today...
You know what? Say what you want about the work we do...
But all of us here make a pretty good team.
&C22-2

~C22-2-1
^Well... this will sound stupid, but I just didn't think I'd get along with them...
&C22-3

~C22-2-2
^Yeah, we're all like-minded that way. But even more so we're all just humans!
I didn't think we'd get along so well on a basic level...
&C22-3

~C22-2
^Honestly it comes as a bit of a surprise to me.
We're a pretty diverse group from all over...
Lots of people I never thought I'd be working with...
>Why is that a surprise?=C22-2-1
>We're all just scientists...=C22-2-2

~C22-3-1-1-1
^Perhaps. But unless you take the time to understand where that truth is coming from, a label will only serve a source of conflict...
&C22-4

~C22-3-1-1-2
^I don't know if we can give up on labels, but I've learned that there's more to people than those labels.
And if you take the time to understand where someone is coming from, the labels can take on new meaning...
&C22-4

~C22-3-1-1
^It varies. Sometimes one bad apple can ruin a bunch...
But more frequently the labels get twisted by people trying to discredit those voices. For whatever reason...
>There's always some truth to the labels...=C22-3-1-1-1
>So you're saying you don't use labels anymore?=C22-3-1-1-2

~C22-3-1-2
^I think they're pretty problematic.
Like they make sense among people with aligned views...
But for people outside of that circle, the label only serves to divide.
>But labels are still really useful!=C22-3-1-1-2
>How can I avoid labels though?=C22-3-1-1-2

~C22-3-1
^I see now how that kind of misconception can happen.
It's way easier to associate a stereotype with a label.
And even easier if it's a negative stereotype.
>But where do you think those stereotypes come from?=C22-3-1-1
>What good is a label then?=C22-3-1-2

~C22-3-2
^Most labels come with a lot of misconceptions.
Frequently twisted by people trying to discredit those voices, as I've learned...
I try not to use labels so much anymore...
&C22-3-1-2

~C22-3
^Like I've never considered myself an environmentalist.
Or a feminist.
Like I assumed those kinds of people were extreme!
>Those people are extreme...=C22-3-1
>Why would you assume that?=C22-3-2

~C22-4
^I think you'd find that if you single out an individual from a group and just talk to them, you'd realize you have more in common with them than you may have previously believed...
&C22-5

~C22-5
^At least, that's been my experience here.
Working in a smaller group, it's difficult not to engage people on an individual level.
Personally, I enjoy making those kinds of connections.
&C22-6

~C22-6
^I wasn't sure if you and I would get on smoothly...
But you're alright!
I'm glad we had a chance to connect.
