^You got a minute?
Curious on your thoughts here...

^Since no one out there actually knows where the titans have been coming from, there's been a ton of speculation. Some of it pretty entertaining.
Aliens, products of nuclear waste, a rare but particularly brutal virus...
&C9-3

~C9-3
^And out of all the theories, there's one that doesn't make a shred of sense to me...
That the titans are somehow 'an act of god'?
>There's some logic to that.=C9-4-1
>That's pretty silly.=C9-4-2

~C9-4-1-1-1
^You might disagree with me and that's okay.
But ask yourself whether that disagreement is founded on something you learned yourself or on something you were taught.

^I can see the benefits and the appeal. It can be a family and a community that is always there for you. And I do think that is truly valuable. And wonderful.
The fact that it's all wrapped up in relatively arbitrary rules and ignorant viewpoints is incredibly problematic though...
&C9-4-1-3-1-1

~C9-4-1-1
^And that terrifies me.
I don't think there's a more rigid movement of thought than religion.
It overrides an individual's need to make educated decisions about the world, and inserts outdated dogma instead.
>That's just your opinion.=C9-4-1-1-1
>Religion still helps countless people.=C9-4-1-1-2

~C9-4-1-2
^I understand that organized religion offers a welcoming community to people and that is truly valuable.
But then there's this insidious rhetoric that also tells these people what to think.
&C9-4-2-1

~C9-4-1-3-1-1
^Organized religion has always been a means to control.
To limit free thought.
It's not a valid replacement for education.
&C9-5

~C9-4-1-3-1
^If you look at the history of most religion you'll find a trail of blood.
And most of the wars today are the result of religious differences as well, or at least presented as such.
&C9-4-1-3-1-1

~C9-4-1-3-2-1
^But organized religion has always been a means to control.
To limit free thought.
We need people to be able to think for themselves if we're ever going to move forward as a species.
&C9-5

~C9-4-1-3-2
^I'm not sure if there is a good way to do it.
And it's troubling because the idea of condemning someone based on their religion seems wrong as well.
&C9-4-1-3-2-1

~C9-4-1-3
^To a certain extent, but what about if those beliefs inherently violate basic human rights?
What about if those beliefs have become distorted and weaponized?
>That's only in extreme cases.=C9-4-1-3-1
>But how do you measure that?=C9-4-1-3-2

~C9-4-1
^In the sense that religious institutions are pushing that crazy idea? Sure.
But how could anyone believe that stuff?
Like in general, organized religion is pretty clearly all bogus.
>Organized religion is important to billions of people.=C9-4-1-1
>Yeah, it doesn't make any sense.=C9-4-1-2
>It's important to be tolerent of other's beliefs.=C9-4-1-3

~C9-4-2-1
^Organized religion has always been a means to control.
To limit free thought.
And I think it's a really difficult thing to break away from when you've been indoctrinated since birth.
&C9-5

~C9-4-2
^Like I get that these religious institutions are peddling this story, so it's got a solid base there.
But the fact that people are so willing to eat up anything their religion serves them is alarming.
&C9-4-2-1

~C9-5
^It's obviously a super complicated issue, and I'm no expert.
I hope you understand what I mean though...
Thanks for talking.
See you around.
