ATHELP INSTRUCTIONS ATHELP, your online AT command reference manual, is provided in both Windows and DOS formats. The following instructions explain: VIEWING ATHELP FOR WINDOWS CREATING AN ICON FOR ATHELP FOR WINDOWS VIEWING ATHELP FOR DOS PRINTING ATHELP VIEWING ATHELP FOR WINDOWS: There are several ways to view ATHELP for Windows: A. Open ATHELP from any Windows Help file B. Open ATHELP from the Windows File Manager C. Open ATHELP from the Windows Program Manager A. Open ATHELP from any Windows Help file: 1. Select the Help menu in any Windows application. 2. From the menu, display a Help screen by choosing one of the options in the Help menu (for example, Index). 3. When a Help screen is displayed, choose Open from the File menu. 4. In the File Name box, type: C:\INTELFXM\ATHELP.HLP (This example assumes drive C; if you're not using drive C, substitute your drive letter for C in this step.) 5. Select OK to open ATHELP. * * * B. Open ATHELP from the Windows File Manager: 1. In the Windows File Manager directory tree, open the INTELFXM directory by clicking on intelfxm. 2. In the INTELFXM directory, open ATHELP by double- clicking on the file athelp.hlp. If the Cannot Run Program dialog box appears, associate ATHELP.HLP with Windows Help: 1. Display File Manager 2. Select Associate from the file menu. 3. In the Files with Extension box, type: HLP 4. In the Associate With box, type: WINHELP.EXE 5. Select OK to associate ATHELP with Windows Help. 6. Try to open ATHELP again. * * * C. Open ATHELP from the Windows Program Manager: 1. Display Program Manager. 2. Select Run from the File menu and type: WINHELP.EXE C:\INTELFXM\ATHELP.HLP (This example assumes drive C; if you're not using drive C, substitute your drive letter for C in this step.) * * * CREATING AN ICON FOR ATHELP FOR WINDOWS If you will be using ATHELP for Windows frequently, create an icon for ATHELP. Place the icon for ATHELP in the program group that contains your communications software. The following method creates the standard Windows question mark Help icon with the label: ATHELP. 1. Display Program Manager. 2. Open the Program Group for your communications software. 3. From the Program Manager File menu, choose New. 4. In the New Program Object dialog box, select the Program Item option, and then choose OK. 5. Fill in the Program Item Properties dialog box as shown below. In the Description box, type: ATHELP In the Command Line box, type: WINHELP C:\INTELFXM\ATHELP.HLP 5. Choose OK. The standard Windows Help icon, a question mark (?) icon should now appear in your communications program group. Double-click on the icon to view ATHELP. * * * VIEWING ATHELP FOR DOS: To view ATHELP for DOS, exit any program you are currently running and return to DOS. Once you are in DOS, make INTELFXM (the directory where you copied your Intel utility software) the current directory; at the DOS prompt type: CD \INTELFXM enter To view the online AT command reference manual, type: ATHELP enter Follow the directions on the screen to find the information you need. * * * PRINTING ATHELP While you are viewing ATHELP in either Windows or DOS, you can print any screen that is displayed by selecting Print from the menu. ATHELP for DOS can also be printed as a whole. To print the entire ATHELP for DOS manual (90 pages), return to DOS and be sure that you are in the INTELFXM directory.
