Copying the license file

Use Device Manager to copy the license file to the 5000 Series Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch.

Step Action

From Device Manager menu select Edit, File System.

The FileSystem dialog box appears.

Click the License File tab.
The License File tab appears.

In the TftpServerInetAddressType field, select the address type, IPv4 or IPv6.

In the TftpServerInetAddress field, enter the TFTP server address in the format selected in the previous step.

In the LicenseFileName field, enter the software license filename for the TFTP server.

In the UsbTargetUnit field, select the target location using an integer ranging 0-9. 0 specifies TFTP retrieval. 1-8 are used to specify USB in a stack unit. 9 is used to specify a standalone unit.

In the LicenseFileAction field, select dnldLicense.

Click Apply.

Click Refresh.

The LicenceFileStatus field displays the file copy progress. After the file copy completes, a warning message appears prompting you to reboot the switch and activate the license.

To reboot the switch, choose Edit, Chassis

Under the System tab, select the reboot option and click Apply.
