    Video Memory stress Test for Clean Environment v1.21

    This test allow you to completely test your video RAM (accessible by
32-bit CPU address space).

    Main difference form Windows-version is direct work with video ram, without
using any interfaces and drivers. For successful initialization there are
VESA Bios Extesions 2.0 or above is needed. Direct video memory access requires
launching in clean environment, and for provide it there is needed to create
boot disk. For create boot CD simply record VMTCE.ISO onto any CD/DVD-disk.

    If boot from CD/DVD is impossible, the version for floppy disk can be used.
This version does not present in this archive, bun can be downloaded from
Video Memory stress Test internet page.

    Testing process contains two main stages: offscreen memory testing with
displaying process on standart VMT interface, and framebuffer testing without
any interface (screen will blinking). Framebuffer test length normally
continues only few seconds and can by interrupted in any time. For program
control used arrow keys (log scrolling) and keys with characher, which
underlined in control captions (switches). Testing can be canceled by ESC
pressing.

    Video RAM error messages has same view as Windows-version of VMT. But here
all error addresses is true physical addresses in GPU memory space. Beyond
process complete in dependence of errors present program will perform 
automatically reboot after 3-seconds delay (if no errors found), or will wait
for pressing ENTER and provides in this time ability to explore error log (if
one or more errors found).

    After booting will shown menu, which can be used to select testing with
default settings or testing with user-specified settings. It is recommended to
use defaults if no troubles found. If exists saved in previous test sessions
options profile, it can be selected by third menu item (possible only if
test started from floppy, or other read/write-drive).

    Main settings:
    Log error details - set "Log errors" switch. Can be changed in testing
      process. Can be used for disable logging of each memory error.
    Save test log to file - write all log messages to specified file. Must be
      entered name of file on write-allowed drive, which has FAT (FAT12, FAT16,
      FAT32) file system, writing of NTFS-drives not supported! Empty string
      mean no any log file.
    Perform framebuffer testing - set "Perform framebuffer  testing" switch. 
      Can be changed in testing process. Disables or enables framebuffer memory
      testing.   
    Perform small test set - set "Small test set" switch. Can be changed in
      testing process. Allows to use small test set (without walking bits).
    Beep if error(s) found during pass - set "Beep if errors found" switch. Can
      be changed in testing process. If checked, program will beep after each
      pass with video memory errors.
    How many passes - defines test cycles count before exiting. Expecting
      simple digit from 1 and above. By default is undefined (infinite).
    Try to get video memory size via PCI routines - try to get video memory
     size via PCI BIOS functions (in other case VBE will used, but it can
     return too small size).

    Extended options (can cause test crash):
    Test block size - test window size and current test progressbar step value.
      Expecting simple bytes count, default value is 1048576 (1 MB).
    Video memory size - forces video used memory size. Can be specified by one
      of following values:
        1048576b or 1048576 - bytes count;
        1024k - kilobytes count;
        1m - megabytes count;
        100000h - hexadecimal bytes count.
    Video memory physical address - physical address of video memory block in
      address space. Expecting 32-bit hexadecimal value;

    If test started with user-specified settings and write is allowed to used
disk drive (floppy or flash), there is possible to save entered options and
use it in next test sessions. For save selected options, profile name must be
entered to prompt "Save entered options for next use with name (any string):".
New profile always owerwrites existing, even if different name entered.

    BECAUSE SOME LIMITATIONS OF 32-BIT PC ARCHITECURE IT IS POSSIBLE TO TEST NO
MORE THEN 512 MB (OR BELOW) OF VIDEO RAM WITH THIS TEST. FOR TOTALLY TEST ABOVE
MEMORY A WINDOWS-VERSION MUST BE USED.
