Welcome to the README for the linux version of Gimmick in the Chaos Dimension! I'll give you all the info I have from testing it on linux here. Shoutouts to /r/linux_gaming for their help in testing all these distros!! Distro Compatability ----------------------------------- Game built on: Ubuntu Known working distros: Ubuntu, SteamOS, Mint, Arch, OpenSUSE Requires a little more effort to get working: Fedora 34 Works, but has a softlock (see below): Manjaro Dependencies ----------------------------------- Known linux dependencies: libcurl4 libopenal1 Fedora 34 also requires: mesa-libGLU.x86_64 openal-soft Comments ----------------------------------- Controller support seems to be a bit wonky, which is likely GMS2's doing. Seems to work fine either with a Steam controller, or launching the SteamOS version with another controller, which I imagine is due to steam acting as a middleman for the controller. HOWEVER! I'm told an xbox 360 controller works on OpenSUSE. My only guess is the linux controller driver is weird for Game Maker Studio 2. I'd likely need someone willing to put in time with a debug-heavy version to try to figure out why GMS2's controller driver isn't working on linux. (and probably need to send support tickets to yoyogames for...) I'm more than willing to try to expand this compatability. If you're willing to try running debug heavy versions of Gimmick for testing, fire me off an email at mouse@spacemouse.ca and I'll see what I can get for you. The Softlock ------------- There's a rare case of the game softlocking on a game over. I have no idea why this happens. My only theory is not enough RAM, but I can't say that conclusively. I'd like to be able to fix this linux issue, but I'd need to work closely with someone to try to diagnose why it's happening. If this is happening to you, and you're willing to help, reach out to me at the email above.
