STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR README.TXT File If you have difficulties running STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR, here are some hints on solving your problem. 1) You receive the message: You do not have enough memory to run STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR. You need approximately 414K of free memory to run the program. Please free some additional memory and try again. This is informing you that you do not have enough free memory available to run STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR. The program requires a minimum of 414K of RAM to run. First you should check to see if you system is equipped with more than 414K of RAM. If it does have more than 414K of RAM, then it is most likely that you have installed memory resident programs. In this case, remove some of these programs (by modifying your CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT files) and try running the program again. 2) Your system freezes when running STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR: This is most likely due to an incompatibility with a memory resident program. Unload your memory resident programs one at a time and try to run the program again to see which program is not compatible with STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR. 3) When running STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR from floppy disk you receive the following message when selecting Investment Basics and after you have inserted the second diskette: Invalid disk change: A)bort, R)etry, F)ail, I)gnore. This message may appear when you either have SHARE.EXE loaded, or are running under Windows. SHARE.EXE and Windows provide monitoring of diskette and file changes, and if a disk change is made when a program is running from the diskettte which was removed, this error will appear. The solution to the problem is the following. First insert the other diskette back into the disk drive. Then select Retry from the error message. This will place you back in STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR. At this point, exit the program. If you are running under Windows, exit Windows. If you are SHARE.EXE installed from within your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to not load SHARE.EXE. At this point, reboot your computer so that the changes take effect. You should then be able to run the program from the floppy disk. Note that this error will not appear if you install STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR on your hard disk. 4) When running STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR from floppy disk you receive the following message: Error reading drive A)bort, R)etry, I)gnore. You have most likely removed the floppy disk from the disk drive. STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR needs to have its program floppy in the disk drive at all times. If you receive this message, re-insert the floppy disk that you removed, and select R)etry. 5) When running STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR from floppy disk you receive the following message: Write protect error writing drive: A)bort, R)etry, F)ail Your floppy disk is write protected. STAGES STRATEGY SELECTOR needs to write data to the floppy as it is running. To solve this problem remove the diskette, remove the write protect tab, re-insert the floopy disk and select R)etry.
